today for professional practice class, we had an interview session with Ms. Azlina, Ms Amy and another lady(not sure who is she).
we was told to dress formal and wait at the discussion room next to staff room, while the interview will be held in meeting room. What makes it scary is that the interview is judge by 3 lecs and they even recorded the entire session and will be reveal to the class next week.
we're in the waiting room: L-R: edmund(sengaja look below to avoid my camera), lobo (posing happily) and Leong teck(standing behind lobo)
busy preparing papers document, does looks like real office, rite? haha
while waiting, trying to relax themselves, making jokes, posings..
Lobo was suppose to be first, but he cabut to the washroom. ends up, i was first to be called. the moment i enter the room, gosh, nervous and scary... tried to look professional but there are several questions, i unable to answer.. darn... did researches on interview qustions but did not have the time to read thru until today.. sigh.. wasn't fully prepare for this.... and the most tricky question was " what salary are you expecting?" hopefully i didnt do so many mistakes...
after me, was alan followed by lobo, rachel, leong teck and lastly edmund. Leong Teck very geng, knowing today got interview and lec ady mentioned many times in the class to dress formal, yet he came to coll casual wears! lol....
Although my interview was over, but we had to stay back for announcement by ms azlina. So when rachel was interviewing, the waiting/discussion room was empty except me... then edmund came back seeing no one else was in the room except me, he went back out, waits outside the room until rachel came in only he followed behind her.. do i seem to have a disease? that u reluctant to be in the same room as me... we're classmates afterall.. yet u give me such treatment. you're already 20, for god sake... can u act mature? be mature? we're a complete stranger now, do u know that? not a single conversation for a day seem normal between us...
You even told andrew we didnt talk, because it'll makes u think those bad sad moments, etc etc... those are bullshit man! all you want is to get attention.. fine, you got it now from them.. happy? you're the one who act tat way and i assuming u want andrew to tel me to make the first initiative to approach you???? dream on pal....
say me evil, say me bad, but dont judge me when u're clueless over the situation!
Well, at least today i learn something, interview is a scary thing and needs tonnes of practices... and learn about edmund's perspective over our friendship....
Yea~! After the long wait, almost a month i think, finally news about Tanjong Heritage Competition was out on Tueday's Sin Chew's newspaper... I know i know, i dont read chinese, :P i got a copy from Alan...
The article ...
stupid photography.. don't know the lighting angle.. ish ish....
And today i went to dinner at Endah Parade in Seri Petaling with bro, guess what i found when we was in Carrefour supermarket?

On November 13-14, i attended the Kyoorius Design Yatra 2008 which was held in Selangor Chinese Assembly Hall in Jalan Maharajalela, Malaysia. It was the first time ever held in KL! a rare opportunity plus ms ong encourage us to go as we'll be able to learn many things from 12 famous designers worldwide... Besides me, there are 10 students and 5 lec:

Day 1 Woke up at 7am and at 8am took LRT & monorail to the destination. At Maharajalela monorail, met shen shen and her friends, so together we walk to the building and meet up with ms chou, sze hunt, alan and rachel. Then went for breakfast at the mamak nearby, james and eugene joined us shortly... Around 9 something went to reg. Gosh the hall outside was packed with students and professionals(lec, working ppl). I think there were more around 500++ ppl?
Goodies bag(books) given at the entrance to the hall...

----------------------- er... basically, he talked about hindu-buddhist religion and NAGAs and how he applied on his work.. more on talking bout his research on NAGAs.... most of the students actually almost fall asleep cuz he talked in monotone.... but Ms Chou and Mr koh seem interested on him...

------------------------- He showned us lots of interesting sites... like photosynth.com, whereby when we upload any 2D picture, the site will analyse and allows us to see the pic 3D in every direction and angle.. it's awesome!
After that we have one hour break, we went to Petaling Street for lunch, went to a place famous for curry laksa(not sure where), but gosh, one of the aunty in charged of the yong tau foo freaking rude... was sort-of shouting at us saying if we're not ordering anything from the first stall, are NOT allow to sit at certain tables. How on earth u expect us to know which table to sit when all are the same, there isn't any indication saying this table belongs to first stall... We are you customer afterall, must u talk to us tat rude? I will forever NEVER go there!
Anyway, went back to the hall for fourth speaker- Neville Brody ( http://www.researchstudios.co.uk/) The British designer and art director, has now been at the forefront of graphic design for over two decades. Initially working in record cover design, Brody made his name largely through his revolutionary work as Art Director for the Face magazine. (taken from http://www.designyatra.com/Speakers.html)
------------------------------- i was looking forward or his talks as he was a famous designer, but slowly got sleepy.. He mainly shows us his typography work on times newspaper, layout etc...
Then it was the discussion session between Tony Savarimuthu & Wally Olins on branding...
Wally Olins and Tony , with the pic of the books he published in the screen
The picture tells it all... Not all of us actually listening to the discussion...

--------------------------------------------------------------------- From the brochure i got, i was interested in him and his artwork.. After all the talks, his was able to keep us awake throughout his presentation... He talks about his background, company and works he done... Oh, and he's funny too....
Then, dinner time-6pm. James, Alan, Sze Hunt, Rachel Chu & Loo, another junior(dont know his name, sorry...) and me decided to go lowyat for dinner at one of the hong kong restaurant.... Suppose to take the monorail to there, but rachel chu said it was crowded, so we walked all the way there. Imagine you walked from maharajalela(stadium Merdeka) to Low yat.. soooooooooo far.. and we were starving! sigh.. actually the counter was crowded because students were lining up to buy the tix.. but the train is empty, atho it's 6pm, but monorail will only be crowded if we took train from other end to KL Sentral....
After dinner, we gone separate way. James, Sze Hunt, Rachel Loo and I went to Sg. Wang and BB Plaza for a walk while the rest remain in low yat... Around 8pm, we took monorail back to the assembly hall. for last and final speaker...

(taken from http://www.designyatra.com/Speakers.html)
------------------------------------ Altho his presentation able to makes us feel sleepy, since he read directly from the paper prepared but i like his design... to make something ordinary into extraordinary.. it was pretty cool!
By the time the talks over, it was ady 9 something! gosh... so late.. Everyone went separate ways... James goin to Salak Selatan, so we both took the same train... least got someone acc me, not so scare altho it's late.... So tired... Another day to go...
Wally's latest published branding book(RM45) i brought there with his signature!
That's all for part 1.. will update Day/Part 2 soon.... back to my assignments....
Yesterday went to Look Out Point for dinner cum see sunset sith dear, ee wah, adrian, yih shyang(eva's collegemate), tracy(eva's collegemate) and one more gal(forgotten her name, so sorry)... This is my second time being there.. First was conned by my ex-high school mates last year. She called me to join them to there for buffer dinner, i assume it was a high school gathering, but apprently it was a party of her company- Lamp Berger... heard of it? Reason for calling me to join the dinnner? to indirectly trying to pursue me into joining lamp berger... thank god i didnt step my foot onto tat business...
Anyway, back to my story.. ^^ Everyone gathered at Ee Wah's house latest by 5pm.. 2 cars went up with direction by dear.. it took us about half and hour to reach to the top. Since it was early, so we took few pictures together and have a drink with light snacks.... Sadly wasn't really able to watch sunset.. too many clouds... Sunrise at Redang was much better compare to this...
Adrian and Ee Wah
Adrian and me(more like he suddenly jump into the pic) i like the hat(belongs to Adrian) but doesn't really suit me
Walked around for a while with dear... Around 7pm, went back to the restaurant for dinner... I shouldn't have sit in between adrian and dear.. both of them steal my fries! evil.. mean.. :P
After dinner, went to Menara Tinjau for a better view- which is not far from the restaurant... The night view was superb! of cuz we took the opportunity to capture tonnes of pictures while being up there.. lol.... Being at the top, it was nice, windy and beautiful altho that place was crowded with lots of people, oh and we was able to spot Genting.... --->just being random.. hehe...
Around 10 something, went to Kuchai Lama, Free Zone to yum cha. Guess what, we sat and chatted there until 1am! didn't realize time passes tat fast...
there's still tonnes of pictures i wanted to upload, but i have to wait for Ee Wah to sent to me...
p/s: 1) gained alot of knowledge from this outing and alot info about you.... Adrian, you can be consider as my Doc. L.. haha...
2) sorry dear, knowing that you're so tired and sleepy yet still pull you out. Seem like being inconsiderate....Promise it won't happen again...
3) Also apologize for being so quiet... I can't help it as i have been that way since high school, but i'll try to change that characteristic of mine... Just meanwhile, be patience with me, ok?
dont mistaken me for this.. i have no intention to brag or something.. i'm just curious...
Whenever i go for event/conference/workshop, when i meet new friends, guys especially often say i look like someone they know @ i look very familiar.. etc... etc...
Not once, but many times i encounter this with different people of cuz... Which makes me curious.. is there really so many gurls that looks familiar? or it's just a pick up line guys loves to use... if it is, isn't it old school?
To my guy readers, please leave comment.. to stop my curiousity....
I got a phone call from 95% Advetising Academy on mon stating that I was selected to enter the second round, shocked and surprise as the following wed is the actual event. So i assume, probably there are a num of students unable to attend, therefore some of us who wasn't that active(so-call-waiting-list..lol) got selected. Among 7 ALFA students, 5 of us got selected to second round, which are Rachel Loo, Rachel Chu, Alan, Naufal and me of cuz!
Well, anyway, today the second round was held at The Garden Ballroom Hotel-5th floor. We had to arrive by 9am.. As usual, Malaysia time, the event start at 9.30am.... Breakfast was provided by the hotel... Awesome, need not spent money.. haha.. Rachel Loo and I was in the same team- Orange Group. While Naufal in yellow team, Rachel Chu in red team and Alan in blue team. I notice quite a num of familiar faces from the first workshop I went. Apparently, there are about 20 students from the same workshop got selected...
the stage...
The ECDs.....- introduction in progress by MC
Anyway, the event started with a short Apple advertisement..lol.. The MC is apple user, what to do.. haha... The MC introduced to us all the 6 ECD included the Director of 95% Advertising Academy, Janet. Each of ECD are given probably 1-3 minutes to talk introduce themselves. After that, Ms Janet gave us the brief and we're are to be seated in our respective groups. One table of 5 ppl... My group was conducted by Mr. Yap Pow Hoong, ECD of Milk +Co. My group members are me, rachel loo, Emi(from UTAR), Sue and Wai Kin(from Lim Kok Wing).
My group!! (from left- Emi, Sue, Wai Kin, Me, Rachel)
Our task was to think of an idea to encourage youth to visit MTV SWITCH website- that talks about the go green issue... also to be part of it to save our earth/contribute so they would visit the site frequently- i assume. We came up with various ideas... Proposed to Yap Pow Hoong, he likes the ideas but encourage us to develope something more extraordinary, something totally different from others that gives a big impact. We cracked our head for hours and hours... but the ideas are all normal. Even when the time almost up, we're still rushing to write down all our ideas onto a mahjong papers... I guess we're the only group that comes up with /proposed 7 different ideas.. lol.. -cuz Pow Hoong said whatever idea you have in your mid just let it out. So we did what he said.. haha....
Around 3pm, everyone are asked to leave the hall while judges goes table by table to choose the best ideas and 2 tables(10 students) will be rewarded a tix to Kancil Award Ceremony 2008!
Outside, while waiting for the result, light snacks was served... there were meatballs, roti canai and curry chicken. For dessert, was cookies.. And guess what? those are my lunch! Cuz they said we only have half an hour break, therefore all of us didnt go out for lunch.
Around 4 something, we're allow to enter the room. Winners were announced... photo section was taken... Congratulates to them! haha.. And Rachel Chu was one of the winner! Congrates! Q&A section was conducted for bout 15 minutes... After that was group photo section before we depart.
It was definitely eye opening to attend the 2nd round workshop. As i able to witness how ECD works.. and gain knowledges.... But i would prefer to work under Jeff Oor, the grandfather of ECD! lol....
got this free t shirt.. but it was the remaining stocks from last year workshop, so only few of us able to get it. To be honest i have no idea who is Rahul Matthew...
Oh ya, Congratulates to Obama as well!! for winning the election and for being the first black man to lead the country. Guess this year everyone wants a change just like Malaysia.. during our country election at the beginning of the year- remember?
Found this at my dad's email today.... Just thought of sharing with you all, especially design student, might help you to think your idea out of the box.. haha.... the artist in the vid is creative from the beginning, the way he/she began the drawing....
been so long since i last update... been busy the whole week rushing my assignment.
Anyway, today i went to Ee Wah's college to attend her college event- Global Music Carnival. also for charity. RM10 for a tix.... The tix...
started at 6pm, but we went around 5pm to get parking lot, cuz the place are limited.. Since we was early, we went Summit for a walk and have dinner, accompanied Ee Wah...
Around 7pm, went into the hall.. gosh.. it was soooooooooo hot, as if you're in a sauna room... plus everyone was standing in front, it was so hard for us to watch the performance... End up, both of us went out to the main entrance for some fresh air... Ee Wah intro some of her classmates- Billy, Yih Shyen(not sure if it's the correct speling), Ee Ling, Daren, Nick.. etc... All of us was hungry and since the hall was extremely hot, we decided to go Taipan for dinner- Strawberry Restaurant... around 15 of us? went there... dinner.. chit chat.. den around 10pm, went back to her college, the performance ended but the open dance floor started-at 10th floor acording to them...
One of the performance I able to watch.. A local singer(?)
Overall, the event was average.. i hardly able to see the performance cuz everyone was blocking plus it was hot just to stand there- apparently the air conditioner was't funtionable. No wonder it was hot!!! To be honest, I felt I wasted my RM10 for the tix but since it is for charity den just let it be... one thing I'm happy was that i finally brought my hooded sweatshirt! Altho it's brand-less but it's consider cheap-70% off for a cotton material.. which bring the total of RM15.
Wanted to buy either from Tropicana nor Player, but this both brand's sweatshirt has too many /big design on it, not the type I fancy...
